Donald Trump’s post depicting President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama as apes is as despicable, as overtly racist, as dehumanizing as it is un-American, un-Presidential and entirely unacceptable.
This cannot be excused or justified as satire or provocation. It is a centuries-old racist slur used to justify oppression and violence. We condemn it without reservation, as should every American of conscience.
We do not enjoy having to say this. We would much prefer that the President of the United States of America make us proud rather than ashamed and disgraced.
