Zioness Co-Hosted Freedom Seder Featured in the Jewish Journal

More than 50 years after the first Freedom Seder wove Jewish ritual with the Black freedom struggle, over 200 leaders and community members gathered at Stephen Wise Temple in Los Angeles to carry that legacy forward. Co-hosted by Van Jones, Amanda Berman, Greater Zion Church of Compton, Stephen Wise Temple, Zioness, and Deborah Marcus, this year’s Freedom Seder was a deeply spiritual and symbolic act of solidarity. Drawing from the rituals of Passover and Easter, participants renewed a sacred covenant — a berit — to stand together against antisemitism, racism, and all forms of oppression. In a time when political and digital forces aim to divide, this gathering affirmed an enduring truth: Black and Jewish liberation are intertwined, and our shared future depends on collective commitment, love, and mutual support.
