Zioness Highlighted by Van Jones at Jewish Funders Network Conference

At this year’s Jewish Funders Network conference in Nashville, Zioness was mentioned during the opening plenary by media personality and activist Van Jones, who spoke powerfully about the need to rebuild the Black-Jewish alliance in the wake of October 7th.

Jones credited his personal relationship with Amanda Berman, Zioness’ founder and executive director, as formative in shaping his understanding of progressive Zionism and support for the Jewish community. In a memorable moment that drew laughter and appreciation from the crowd, Jones praised Amanda and Zioness for helping him and other progressives “get our heads out of our butts” on issues related to Israel — jokingly calling the organization “political proctologists.”

Jones’ remarks were part of a broader panel discussion on allyship, where he and progressive activist Brianna Wu emphasized the importance of cross-community relationships in combating rising antisemitism and social division. Zioness is proud to be part of this ongoing work, helping to bridge gaps and strengthen progressive movements grounded in justice, inclusion, and solidarity.
